Warbirds of Mars is a thrilling Neo-pulp/retro science fiction webcomic created and illustrated by SCOTT P. ‘DOC’ VAUGHN and written by KANE GILMOUR. It begins in 1948, four years since the ‘Martians’ (as the invaders are called) attacked the earth and superceded WWII, occupying much of the major cities of the world. The resistance forces struggle to re-unite the ragged/ dispersed militaries of the planet in the hopes of fighting back with new technology.

DOC is a Phoenix local illustrator and writer originally hailing from Wisconsin. When he’s not hard at work on comics and commissions he’s trying to catch up on drawing his web-comic creation WARBIRDS OF MARS. Some of Doc’s fantasy pen & ink art was featured in ‘A Life of Ravens’ and ‘Lancelot’ by Alex Ness, ‘Crypt of Dracula’ by Kane Gilmour and others. Among Doc’s interests are classic illustrations and movie genres, vintage clothes and cars, pulp magazines, and a severe predilection for ‘Doctor Who’ since the age of 8. He lives in a very classic house with a cat, and bird and occasionally a dog. Scott is available for freelance illustrations and commissions. KANE is a bestselling thriller author. He has collaborated with Doc previously on the Tales of the Hero-Lore anthology and has written a handful of thriller novels, including the recent The Crypt of Dracula (with illustrations from Doc). CHARACTERS:

HUNTER NOIR

The mysterious leader of the MARTIAN KILLERS. A shadowy, pulp magazine style character in a dark coat, fedora and bandaged face. Carries a Colt 45 and Mauser and hates the aliens with every fiber of his being.

JACK 'BOMBER' PARIS

A new member of the ‘Martian Killers’ and a Captain of the former ‘Wild Hares’ bombing squadron. A typically brash fighter/bomber pilot flying since the outbreak of WWII.

JOSIE TAYLOR

A beautiful brunette lounge singer and the girlfriend of Jack Paris. Secretly, she is a member of the ‘Martian Killers’ and pilot trainee.

MR. MASK

A tall, imposing half-breed of alien reproduction, he fights with the Martian Killers hefting blade and gun. None have seen his face, hidden beneath his German gas mask.
